Birthday Brother

Happy 23rd Little Brother!

I think the best birthday gift I could ever give you is an apology....for being the terrible older sister. So here it goes.
Im sorry for.....

  • not letting you hang out with me when you wanted to
  • forcing you to dress up when we were little
  • forcing you to be my student while I played teacher
  • always crying on your birthday and throwing a fit because your birthday happend first even though I am older
  • giving you a box of cotton for christmas and then laughing at you
  • getting PISSED because you gave me a box of cotton the next year
  • yelling "FIRE GET OUT OF THE HOUSE" while you were in the shower and then locking you in the bathroom on April Fools.
Despite all of those things...you know I love you right? and Im so STINKIN excited to see you this weekend!!

Love,
Your terrible big sis

i miss brother

I am really missing brother lately

I got to talk to him on skype last night.
He just blows me away. I could sit and listen to him for hours.
He is so wise and creative. Motivated and ambitious. Outgoing and fearless. Hilarious and fun. Thoughtful and kind. Sensitive and strong. Brilliant and passionate.
He is an old soul.

Of all the males under 50 I have come into contact with in my 24 years I know of only two men. Gentlemen. One is la gentleman and the other is my brother. Their caliber exceeds the rest and sorry ladies...both have really lucky girls.
Brother is one of the most amazing people I know and I am so happy that I am stuck with him for the rest of my life :)

Here is a really old and embarrassing video of us from a road trip a couple of years ago

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Father's Day, Faja

I know everyone else thinks their dad is the greatest but no one elses dad is as kind, selfless, generous, loving, intelligent, entertaining, handsome, understanding, goofy, hard working, corny, forgiving or as involved as my father. For an earthly father...he is as good as it gets.  He is the definition of a man...a gentleman, and I hope future babies daddy (aka a husband) is every ounce of a father to my children as my father has been to me.

My dad always answers my phone calls... even if he is in a meeting...just to make sure everything is ok. He never raises his voice. He thinks he is so funny that he laughs at his jokes before he reaches the punch line (thats where I get it from). If you think of the most obvious thing in a situation, my dad will turn it into a corny joke. When I tell him "Dad...you are being corny" he responds "How corny? Corn on the cob? or creamed corn?".....Told you.

Before work in the morning my dad would kiss me on the forehead and wish me a "great and groovy day"until the day I moved out. He attended all of my soccer games, choir concerts and dance recitals and anything else I made him go to ;). He has a very distinct cough, sneeze and a clearing of the throat. Brother and I have imitations down to a T. He is a mentor and a friend. I can turn to him for anything.
So maybe Im bragging...
just a bit...
but...
maybe thats what I wanted.

I love my daddy!

(Forgive the terrible quality of the photos. I sent brother on a mission today to find pictures and email them to me......He took pictures of the pictures.....with his iphone....then emailed them. Oh Brother)

Sorry I couldnt be there with you this weekend to hug your neck and tell you how great you are!
Ps . can I have some money?

What I love about Austin::: {Blackberry Pickin}

If you asked me how I like Austin my response would be

"Ummmm. IM OBSESSED with it"

I love everything about it. I havent found one thing about this great state's capital that I'm not instantly in love with.

But if you ask me what my favorite thing is about Austin I would answer immediately
"Oh I know this. South Congress for sure. Town Lake is obvious....and the view of  The Capital from S. Congress is stunning"

But then Id stop there. Because thats all I do. I contently bolt around to the same amazing places. This summer Ive decided to take a vacation to Austin. Explore my city. Every nook and cranny.

Today's adventure involved Brother, Pearl, and some berries.

Brother and I ventured into the gorgeous Hill Country taking the scenic route.
With the top down we were winding up down and around the most beautiful views of Texas. Just brother and my Pearl Girl. The top was down and the Beatles were blaring. Brother was really good at his dance moves.
An hour later we drove into this adorable Berry Farm.

The berries were so juicy and scrumptious looking!

After frolicking through the berry fields we headed back to town. Pleased as can be.
HOLLA!

For the gamers out there

Brother (a gamer) found this video about a year ago and shared it with me. I think its hilarious and brings me back to the days of super nintendo. I still remember the day that brother and I got our first actual nintendo. I remember going down to Tom Thumb groceries and picking it up. I was maybe 5. Brother would get so excited while playing that he would run in place with his lil tongue stickin' out. He'd start running so fast that he'd slip in his footed pajamas and fall over biting his tongue in the fall. Cute little brother.

I never got into any other games beyond Super Nintendo. Nintendo 64 got too complicated. I like the ones where you only have to run one direction (right) and jump. My all time favorite includes Donkey Kong and Aladdin. Anyone? Anyone? I knew Aladdin was one hunk of a man even back then ;)

I had a dream I was on American Idol last night and that I was going to sing this song.

The most wonderful time of the year

Annually my girls from high school (the tiny dancers) get together for a gift exchange. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. I love these beautiful ladies. Aren't they just stunning?

la Gentleman + Burgers

"La Gentleman" took me for burgers last night. It was SO tasty. Probably my favorite burger this far....but I say that everytime. I usually dont put mayonaise on my burgers but this time I kept the burger as is, and I was pleasantly surprised. I should do that more often.
Then we went to celebrate "La roommate's" (who is angry her nickname is only la roommate) 24th birthday! I put her present in a Jonas Brother bag.

Did I mention "la gentleman" is also "la funny"?
the people at the party thought so too

Oh yeah...Brother has a girlfriend. Weird. The last time he liked a girl enough to make her is girlfriend, I was in high school, and so was he. She must be somethin'-Can't WAIT to meet her!

Home for the Holidays

{picture taken on our visit to brother in October}
I never thought last week would end! My goodness. The break is here and I am ready to soak up all 2 weeks of it.  But I must say the best part of the break is having all four of us in the same house. Brother hasn't been home since summer and we haven't all been in the same house at the same time since probably this time last year.
The not best part is my parents turning my room into a workout room. I get the couch. I honestly don't mind because it is the comfiest couch ever made. Anyone who has sat on it can attest to it.

I love the 5 days leading up to Christmas. It is filled with so much activity. Parties, coffee dates (or lets be honest....hot chocolate in my case) with old friends. Christmas shopping. I just LOVE it.

Enjoy this time with your family and friends

Brother + Florida + Aladdin winking at me = a fantastic weekend

Last weekend I met mom and dad in Florida to visit brother. We played on the beach, tackled Disney World and even ate cheeseburgers seaside! It was a relaxing MUCH needed weekend with the family. Very pleasant.

We were also involved in one of brother's artsy projects while we were there. More to come on that later! I can't wait to share it with you!

Note**I'm blogging because I don't want to do what I am supposed to be doing...working or editing a long overdue wedding video. I'm burnt out. So I will blog :)

:::Murray Reunion:::

I traveled to small town America this past weekend to celebrate my grandmother's life. She passed last November but we decided to have her memorial service/GIANT family reunion on her birthday this past Saturday. It was way too much fun.

We are the cutest family ever.
We had MATCHING T-shirts (color coded for each side of the family)
AND we played games such as horseshoe/volleyball
AND we went swimming
AND we had a family talent show
AND we had fireworks
AND we cooked out......

...which means naturally
I would have TWO cheeseburgers
Yummmmm
am I bad?
